Founded in 2009 and acquired by Facebook in 2014 at USD$19 billion, WhatsApp to date is now said to have over 1.5 billion monthly users making it the 3rd most used social media platform to Facebook (1st), and YouTube (2), according to currently stats by statista as of October 2018.
Its recent updates and developments gives it an advantage to have more users stay and use its platform for a daily basis to connect with friends and family around the world. According to online media reports, the platform sees over 60 billion messages send per day.
Its handy features like P-i-P, pinned chats, statuses, customized texts, added emojis, recall messages, among others keep us stuck on this platform. However, there are number of these features, one in particular that we are going to look at in this article that many might not be aware of or keep ignoring.
So what feature is this; the Starred message feature. The feature came as updated in 2015 around the month on November and allows users to quickly access bookmarked messages including images, videos, or any other content quickly without having to go through your individual or group messages.
Because of new developments to the app, before the starred feature was appearing next to the WhatsApp brand name, and now it’s replaced by a search option. The starred feature can now be found in menu option (3 horizontal dots that appear at the top right corner).
To star a message
Tap and hold the message you wish to star.
Tap the star icon that appears on top of the screen.
To unstar a message
Tap and hold the message.
Select the remove star icon but won’t delete the message.
To view the list of messages you’ve starred
Open WhatsApp.
Tap the Menu Button.
Tap Starred messages.
