The CFP Board first started offering remote testing for its September exams as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Remote exams are available to anyone who has a health concern and those who need to travel more than 50 miles to a Prometric testing center. Those who live in areas where testing centers are open should continue to take them in person.
“The health and safety of those taking the CFP exam remains paramount to the CFP Board,” CFP Board CEO Kevin Keller said in a statement. “The remote proctoring option reflects our careful assessment of recommendations from national and state health organizations. We wish all candidates well as they prepare for and take the exam this November.”
The registration deadline for the November CFP exam is Oct. 20. For the September exams, 2,154 candidates took the tests, with 6% doing so remotely.
Typically, the CFP holds exams in March, July and November. Because of COVID-19, the July exams were postponed to September.
