The deal, which is expected to close in May, will see Marcum CEO Eric Wulff and his staff of 17 transfer their $4.3 billion in client assets to Wealth Enhancement. After the close, Marcum will operate under the Wealth Enhancement name.
Marcum, which was founded in 2006, offers financial planning and wealth management services for individuals and business owners with the trademarked motto calling on clients to be the “CEO of your money.” In addition to its Cleveland base, the firm has 10 offices in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, New England and Southeast.
Jeff Dekko, CEO of Wealth Enhancement, also pointed to the accounting expertise within the firm’s partner group as a draw.
“The partners’ backgrounds within an accounting firm environment makes the team uniquely positioned to deliver advanced planning to complex clients, such as business owners and multi-generational families,” he said in a statement.
Berkshire Global Advisors advised on the transaction, which is Wealth Enhancement’s second deal of the year after booking 15 acquisitions in 2024.
In February, the firm reported its first deal for Capstone Wealth Advisors, a $618 million RIA in the Pacific Northwest.
Wealth Enhancement is backed by private equity firms Onex Partners and TA Associates. In June, it disaffiliated from LPL Financial after 17 years with the broker/dealer.
