Marketing and sales enablement technology provider Seismic announced its latest acquisition Monday and that it had raised $170 million in a Series G funding round led by Permira.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed but Lessonly is a digital training platform that has been a strategic partner with Seismic and has shared several customers with the firm over the last few years. Prior to its acquisition, Lessonly competed with Allego, BrainShark and Mindtickle, among others in the digital teaching, coaching and sales enablement space.
“Together, we are a stronger and smarter sales enablement platform—the only one that gives sales leaders the confidence they’ll hit their numbers, and ensures all sellers are able to engage with customers in the most effective way possible throughout their buyers’ journeys,” Doug Winter, Seismic CEO and co-founder, said in Monday’s announcement.
For those advisors unfamiliar with Seismic (it tends to be used by larger investment firms and insurance companies), its Storytelling Platform assists marketing and sales staff with content planning and delivery that is, in turn, fairly simple for advisors to personalize in their outreach with clients. Ameriprise Financial and IBM are two examples that make up its varied client base. And Seismic’s platform is also tightly integrated with Salesforce, which continues to grow in popularity as a CRM and sales solution with large advisory firms.
Global private equity firm Permira also led Seismic’s $92 million Series F round in September 2020; other returning investors include Ameriprise Financial, Jackson Square Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Valued at $1.6 billion at the time of its Series F round, the firm has now almost doubled that, announcing its latest valuation at $3 billion. The lastest funding, according to today’s announcement, will go toward continued research and development and international expansion.
