Alternative investment platform CAIS has rolled out a models marketplace, a centralized hub where advisors can access multi-asset and multi-manager alternative investment portfolio allocations.
“Designing, implementing and managing portfolios that include alternatives has historically been a time-intensive and complex process,” said Neil Blundell, chief investment officer at CAIS Advisors and head of investments at CAIS. “We are thrilled to enhance our platform capabilities to help with these challenges and provide financial advisors another pathway to integrate alternatives with a suite of alternative investment model portfolios.”
Advisors will have three options on the CAIS Models Marketplace: Model portfolios developed by wealth management firms, those developed by asset managers, and the homegrown models built by CAIS Advisors, the company’s registered investment advisor division launched last year to assist financial advisors with streamlining portfolio construction.
For the asset management models, CAIS will initially offer single-manager, multi-asset portfolios from Ares Management, BlackRock, Blue Owl, Carlyle, Franklin Templeton and KKR. It plans to add more managers over time.
The CAIS Advisors Models, coming in the second quarter of 2025, will feature a suite of multi-asset, multi-manager models that use CAIS’ proprietary technology to let advisors customize some of the investment decisions.
The Models Marketplace will be integrated with CAIS Compass, a portfolio construction tool that lets users review the model portfolio target asset class weights to analyze the risk and return characteristics before making an investment decision.
This move follows CAIS’s announcement in February of a new ability to let advisors integrate and manage alternative investments and traditional public securities within third-party turnkey asset management platforms (TAMPs) and managed accounts.
Last month, the company also announced a leadership change, with Tim Shannon and Brad Walker now serving as co-presidents. Previously, Shannon served as CAIS president and CFO while Walker was chief client and product development officer. Both will continue to be based in New York City and report directly to CAIS founder and CEO Matt Brown.
